Subject: Self-Introduction for BHB2803 - Friday 10am to 1pm

Dear Ms Emily,

My name is Wong Xin Rong, and I am currently a second-year student from Singapore Institute of Technology in the Bachelor of Hospitality Business with Honors, who is passionate in working towards my goal of becoming a competent events manager in future. Prior to this, I have received my Diploma in Hotel and Leisure Facilities Management in Ngee Ann Polytechnic, which allowed me to learn more and discover my passion and interest in the hospitality industry.

I also have prior work experiences in the MICE industry from my internship program during my final year in polytechnic and job extension as a Project Executive after my internship. These job exposures gave me a great opportunity to acquire valuable workplace skills and conditioned me to be more adaptable to the working life. Some workplace skills I have acquired from my part time jobs are interpersonal skills, where I am able to interact effectively with superiors and peers, and communication skills, where I got to build positive working relationships with fellow colleagues by being a great team player. Being a detailed and analytical individual has also enabled me to gather required information and consolidate data spreadsheets effectively and efficiently.

In addition, through this module I am looking forward to improve my communication skills with various strategies that will further benefit me in future and also try my best in overcoming my fear of public speaking.

Thank you and have a great week ahead!

Yours Sincerely,

Wong Xin Rong

  1. Hi Xin Rong,

Vivienne here! First of, thank you for sharing your experiences in the hospitality industry along with your goals for this module. Through reading your post, I can relate with you towards being able to improve interpersonal skills through interactions in the workplace as we are exposed to different types of people from different walks of life and status. I too have a fear in public speaking as well, hence i find our goals for the modules to be similar. Thus i hope that we would both be able to achieve the goals set and enjoy the module together with many values to take away from!
